Learn Something New

Learning something new can look different to everyone, because everyone knows different things and something that may just come naturally to you may not be as easy to someone else. Also everyone has different learning styles and you probably figured out what yours was while you were in school. There are so many different ways you can learn things and some are easier than others. Here are some ways I learn something new everyday.

Watching Videos

So many people make videos these days and they are so assessable as well. While social media is mostly meant for pleasure and watching funny cat videos, but a lot of times while scrolling you will come across something and learn something you never knew before. This simple leisure activity will become educational just like that. Another more common way people like to learn things is by watching youtube videos. This is more common when you are looking to learn something, Youtube has become a place that people just go to search for something they want to learn so they don’t have to read anything. I am very guilty of this, but I am also a more visual person so when I see something it is so much easier for me to learn.

Talking to people

On average you will meet 80,000 people in your lifetime, that is a lot of different perspectives. No two people are the same and you can learn something from everyone. Even if you are just learning about that person. I find in bigger groups though it is easier for me to learn something because people will get talking and maybe you don’t know what they are talking about so you will ask questions to better understand the conversation. I am also a very shy/quiet person so usually in bigger groups I just listen and a lot of times even if I don’t contribute to the conversation because I can’t relate I will learn something.

Reading

Reading is the OG of learning, a blog, the newspaper, a book, or even a facebook post. Different perspectives on things are always important to learn. If you are reading a book on something you are passionate about or a book on something you have never heard of before chances are you will always take away at least one thing. For me I get my point across and I am able to articulate my thoughts and feelings through writing rather than speaking. When we read things we are basically inside the writer head and hearing things they may not think of to say out loud during a conversation.

It is crazy how easy it is to learn something new and no one really thinks about it as even learning because a lot of times it is fun. A weird thing I realize is once I learn something new (usually it is a word) I will start hearing it everywhere and I am like have people been saying this and I have just missed it or is this a just a new thing? I am not sure I will ever get the answer to that, but that is what makes learning fun! One thing I can say is once I learn something I feel good and normally I want to share it
